Where good news shines

Colorado State's women's track and field team won the Mountain West Outdoor Championship Saturday for the second straight year.

The Rams finished first Saturday at Veteran's Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif., with a score of 165 points, 13 more than second-place San Diego State. The Rams men finished second in the team standings, trailing Air Force.

CSU's women were led by individual titles from Michaela Hawkins (discus), Quinn McConnell (800 meters) and Sarah Carter (5K). Carter and Mya Lesner were named track performers of the meet.

CSU's women remain unbeaten since 2020. Both the men and women will compete in the NCAA West Regional preliminaries in Fayetteville, Ark., May 22-25. The NCAA championships are scheduled for June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
